Diabetes

Insulin is a hormone that is produced by the pancreas in our body. Diabetes is a medical condition when the body is not capable of producing insulin or unable to properly use the insulin that it produces. Insulin is responsible for regulating the amount of glucose in the blood. In order for the body to function properly, it is necessary that the blood sugar is carefully regulated. If there is an excess of blood sugar, it can damage our organs, blood vessels and nerves. Therefore the blood sugar level needs to be carefully monitored and this is why we need to maintain the level of insulin.

Understanding the signs

There are three major types of diabetes that one is prone to. The most common among them is the Type 2 diabetes, followed by Type 1 diabetes. During pregnancy, expectant mothers might be prone to a temporary form of diabetes known as the gestational diabetes. Other than that, prediabetes is another diagnosis that indicates an increased risk of developing the condition.

One should regulate the blood sugar level in order to avoid diabetes. High blood sugar leads to several complications such as kidney failure, foot and leg problems, eye disease and cases of heart attack & stroke as well. The complications related to diabetes are serious and they can be very life threatening. The only way to control diabetes is to properly manage the blood sugar levels.
